From Origins to Modern Interpretation

The history of the ProPilot is rooted in 1938, when Oris introduced the iconic Big Crown Pointer Date, a model designed for aviation pioneers who needed maximum legibility and practicality in the cockpit. Hence the characteristic oversized crown and large Arabic numerals.

Today, the ProPilot reinterprets that legendary aesthetic language, retaining the immediate legibility of the dial and the prominent crown, but introducing a more dynamic and decisive profile, designed for the contemporary professional world. Even the bezel, with its slanted grooves, recalls the turbines of modern jet engines.

Refined Design and Technological Details

The Oris team of engineers and designers aimed to further elevate a watch already recognized as an icon. The result is the new ProPilot Date with a 41 mm case, characterized by sharper lines and a sophisticated alternation of satin and polished finishes. The redesigned crown has also been optimized for better usability.

The dial features a sophisticated texture and new nature-inspired shades: black, chalk, and moss. The applied and satin-finished Arabic numerals, redesigned for impeccable legibility, are paired with revised hands with a luminous tip, offering visual detail and clarity.

In terms of comfort, the new ProPilot can be configured with a metal bracelet or a suede strap, both equipped with the famous “LIFT” buckle, now smoother and more refined. Leather versions also include a continuous adjustment system without holes, for a truly custom fit.

Inside, the Oris Calibre 733 automatic movement beats, with a 41-hour power reserve and an instant date function. Water resistance is guaranteed up to 10 atmospheres (100 m).

Community as a Core Value

Oris strengthens its collaboration with Coulson Aviation, a world leader in aerial firefighting. The ProPilot Date aims to represent the spirit of courage and cohesion that animates the Coulson pilot community, engaged in aircraft such as the Boeing 737 and the Lockheed C-130 Hercules on high-risk missions.

For Oris, the creation of mechanical watches is also the result of a passionate global community, a value that this model celebrates in every detail.
