King Seiko 6L35 Automatic "Garyu-bai" SJE103J1

The KING SEIKO SJE103J1 watch combines a flat dial with faceted indexes and “Diamond Cut” hands to accurately capture the essential features of the original 1960s model. Its new, slimmer design echoes the original KSK design, sharp and angular, with wide lugs and dazzling finishing. This model is equipped with the top-of-the-line caliber 6L35. The plum red “Garyu-bai” dial color and pattern are inspired by the birthplace of the first King Seiko in Kameido, Tokyo, famous for its plum orchards. The “Garyu-bai” was the most popular plum tree, named for its shape, which resembles a dragon lying on the ground. This tree inspired one of the last masterpieces of the Ukiyoe artist Utagawa Hiroshige: “Plum Orchard at Kameido”, later reproduced by Van Gogh in his famous “Japonaiserie”.
