The ultimate expression of YEMA savoir-faire
"Millésime" represents the best that YEMA can produce: an exclusive, handcrafted, and strictly limited-edition timepiece that embodies the tradition of French high watchmaking and our continuous pursuit of excellence.
The most complex and laborious piece crafted by the Manufacture this year pays tribute to a foundational site in the cradle of French watchmaking: the Besançon Observatory. In 1878, the city built an observatory with a single purpose: to allow its watchmakers to regulate their timepieces by following the course of the stars.
The Spacegraf recalls this foundational act. On the dial, an entire disk rotates to the rhythm of the real sky; this is the sidereal time complication, which shows at any given moment the stars actually visible above you. At its center, a second rhythm, far more rapid: the flying tourbillon of the CMM.32 caliber, manufactured in Morteau, visible both from the dial side and through the sapphire caseback.
This is the story that the Spacegraf tells on the wrist: that of a region that has always measured time by looking to the sky.

THE FLYING TOURBILLON, SYMBOL OF HIGH WATCHMAKING
A true horological masterpiece, the flying tourbillon is among the most complex complications to produce and offers a fascinating visual spectacle thanks to its mechanism, supported solely by its base, which gives the illusion of floating in space.
Designed to counteract the effects of gravity and improve chronometric precision, this device requires exceptional mastery: the absence of an upper bridge demands perfect balancing of the components, lightweight materials to reduce friction, and hundreds of hours of meticulous craftsmanship.
105 HOURS OF POWER RESERVE THANKS TO A LARGE BARREL
The CMM.32 is equipped with a single, large barrel optimized to ensure a 105-hour power reserve. Specifically manufactured for the CMM.32 by Générale Ressorts, this large barrel is off-center to leave sufficient space for the gear train and balance wheel, while maintaining a slim profile.
OPTIMIZED ESCAPEMENT
The interface between the gear train and the regulating organ, the escapement is where energy and chronometry meet in a complex interaction. The escapement is an energy-demanding system and alone consumes more than half of the barrels' energy. It is the friction of the anchor pallets on the escape wheel that, despite lubrication, dissipates a good portion of this energy.
The CMM.32 tourbillon escapement features significant improvements that reduce this friction thanks to an innovative and particularly sophisticated manufacturing process (LiGA technology). This advanced escapement ensures the optimization of the entire mechanism, as well as the precision and longevity of the caliber's components.
ANTIMAGNETIC AND SHOCK RESISTANT
Designed for everyday life, the CMM.32 features robust technical characteristics for a tourbillon caliber. Equipped with antimagnetic components, such as a Swiss-made non-metallic alloy hairspring, a Glucydur balance wheel with gold adjustment mass, and micro-components made with LiGA technology materials, the CMM.32 is able to withstand electromagnetic fields up to 2,000 Gauss, a true feat for a tourbillon movement.
The architecture of the tourbillon cage bridge, with its free-sprung balance and shock-absorbing devices produced by Kif, makes the CMM.32 insensitive to shocks, vibrations, and accelerations of up to 5,000 G in all directions.
SIDEREAL TIME COMPLICATION
Meridian Circle of the Besançon Observatory
In 1878, at the request of Besançon watchmakers, a presidential decree established an astronomical, meteorological, and chronometric observatory in the city. Its purpose was to certify the precision of their timepieces by observing the stars. It featured dedicated pavilions, aligned with absolute precision, including a meridian circle with a retractable roof. The observatory is still active today, affiliated with the CNRS (the French national research center) and committed to time-frequency metrology.
The meridian circle observes a single point in the sky: the line where, every night, stars cross the north-south axis of the observatory. From each transit, astronomers derived two simultaneous certainties: the exact time and the star's position. Besançon watchmakers went there for this direct reading of the sky, rather than relying on calculation, to regulate their watches.
The Spacegraf's "celestial vault" disk transfers this principle to the wrist. The meridian circle captured the sky as it passed in front of its fixed telescope; the disk, however, rotates continuously and is set exactly to the 23 hours, 56 minutes, and 4 seconds that the Earth takes to complete one full rotation on its axis relative to the stars. At every moment, it shows the portion of the sky actually visible above you: the same data that the Observatory once read among its stars, now in perpetual motion on a dial.
