Without any major announcements, Casio has introduced the new Edifice EFK-110D series to the European market, quietly but decisively confirming its commitment to continuing to invest in the automatic mechanical watch segment. Following the debut of the EFK-100 line, Casio's first concrete step into the world of modern automatic watches, this new generation demonstrates that the EDIFICE Automatic project was not an isolated experiment.

Availability is expected for mid-March, with an official price set at 279 euros , a particularly competitive figure considering the technical specifications offered and the positioning in the entry-level mechanical market.

Miyota automatic movement: strategic change

The main new feature of the EFK-110 series is the movement. While the previous EFK-100 was powered by the well-known Seiko NH35, widely used in affordable mechanical watches, the new EFK-110 adopts a Japanese-made Miyota automatic caliber.

Casio hasn't released the movement's exact model number, but the stated specifications indicate a power reserve of up to 42 hours , 21 jewels, and segment-appropriate performance, similar to that of the previous NH35. In market terms, both movements are positioned in the same price range, offering reliability, ease of maintenance, and good everyday performance. Rather than a significant leap in quality, this is an alternative choice within the same competitive tier.

Transparent case back and sapphire crystal

One of the most appreciated features among enthusiasts is the transparent screw-down case back , which allows you to observe the automatic movement in operation. The steel construction with a mineral glass window maintains structural solidity, while on the front we find a sapphire crystal , a feature not always found in this price range.

The presence of sapphire crystal increases the perceived value of the model, offering greater scratch resistance than traditional mineral glass.

Design Building with more compact proportions

Aesthetically, the EFK-110 series remains faithful to the Edifice philosophy, characterized by lines inspired by the automotive world and well-finished metallic finishes. Compared to the previous generation, the dimensions are slightly more compact: 43 × 38 × 11.8 mm , compared to the 43.5 × 39 × 12.5 mm of the EFK-100.

The dial retains the technical texture seen in the past, but appears cleaner and less pronounced. The date window is now positioned at 3 o'clock and appears more visually balanced. The wording "Automatic" clearly underscores the mechanical nature of the model, an element Casio is firmly focusing on in this new phase of the line.

The three available variants are:

The solid link steel bracelet and robust construction complete an aesthetic consistent with the collection's sporty-elegant DNA.

Waterproof and everyday use

With water resistance up to 100 meters (10 bar) , the EFK-110 is designed for versatile everyday use. It is not a simple stylistic exercise, but a solid, robust and accessible mechanical watch.

Price and positioning

With a launch price of €279 , the EFK-110 series is positioned in an extremely competitive segment of automatic watches with sapphire crystal and Japanese movements. In this segment, Casio clearly aims to offer a balance between build quality, mechanical reliability, and brand recognition.

If the EFK-100 was a market test to gauge interest in Casio's automatic watches, the EFK-110 confirms that the EDIFICE Automatic line is destined to consolidate. The real challenge will be continuity: progressively improving the design while maintaining an affordable price.

At the moment, the trajectory seems clear and well-defined.
