To celebrate the 145th anniversary of the Maison, Seiko presents two new Prospex limited editions that reinterpret the concept of the Japanese diver through one of the brand's most iconic color codes: the famous "Seiko Blue."

The new Seiko Prospex HBC005J1 and HBB001 indeed share an extremely distinctive aesthetic combination, made of silver-white dials and intense blue details inspired by the historical shade introduced by Seiko in the 1960s. Two watches profoundly different in style and philosophy, but united by the same technical and visual identity.

The return of the Seiko Blue

In the world of Seiko, blue is not simply a color.

The so-called "Seiko Blue" indeed represents a true stylistic signature of the Japanese brand, developed and perfected over the decades to become one of the most recognizable elements of the Prospex collection.

For these new celebratory editions, Seiko pairs the intense blue of the bezel and seconds hand with very bright and contemporary silver-white dials, creating a fresh, technical, and immediately recognizable combination.

The result is a pair of divers with an extremely modern aesthetic, yet deeply connected to the Maison's sporting tradition.

HBC005: the modern heir of the 62MAS

The most refined protagonist of the pair is undoubtedly the new Prospex HBC005, a contemporary reinterpretation of the legendary 1965 Seiko diver, better known to enthusiasts as the 62MAS.

The 40 mm steel case maintains compact and extremely balanced proportions, with soft lines and a very versatile presence on the wrist. The blue aluminum bezel creates a strong contrast with the brushed silver dial, while the applied indices and abundant LumiBrite surfaces emphasize the professional character of the model.

Inside beats the automatic caliber 6R55, a latest-generation movement with a three-day power reserve, stop-seconds function, and performance designed for intense daily use.

Also particularly interesting is the new micro-adjustment system for the bracelet, designed to quickly adapt to changes in wrist size during dives or climatic variations.

The model is water-resistant up to 300 meters and will be produced in only 4,000 units worldwide.

HBB001: the Samurai dresses in blue

More aggressive, more geometric, and decidedly sportier is the new Prospex HBB001, a celebratory evolution of the modern Samurai line.

Here the aesthetic language changes completely: the 41.7 mm case uses sharp surfaces, pronounced edges, and sculpted lines that recall the famous "blade style" geometries of the Samurai collection.

The two-tone blue and silver bezel makes the design even more technical and original, while the silver-white dial maintains the same celebratory color identity as its larger sibling, the HBC005.

Powering the model is the tried and tested automatic caliber 4R35, known for its reliability, ease of maintenance, and overall robustness.

Water resistance remains professional, with 200-meter diver certification and a screw-down crown.

The new celebratory Samurai will be available in a much larger production run than the HBC005, with 9,999 units.

Two different souls of Seiko diving

One of the most interesting aspects of this dual release concerns the contrast between the two interpretations of the Seiko diver world.

The HBC005 represents the historical continuity of the 62MAS tradition: more classic lines, compact proportions, and a strong vintage appeal.

The HBB001, on the other hand, carries forward the more modern and aggressive side of the Prospex collection, with contemporary geometries and a much more technical presence on the wrist.

Two completely different approaches, yet united by the same Seiko Blue identity created for the Maison's 145th anniversary.
