Mechanical watchmaking meets scientific research with a new creation by Seiko. The Prospex Marinemaster 1968 Heritage Diver’s JAMSTEC Limited Edition was born from a collaboration with JAMSTEC, a leading Japanese institute in the study of oceans and polar regions.
This limited edition represents a concrete tribute to marine exploration, combining technology, design, and scientific culture in a highly specialized timepiece.
A dial inspired by Arctic ice
The dial is the true distinguishing element of this reference. The textured blue surface visually recalls the furrow left by an icebreaker ship through the Arctic ice, transforming a natural phenomenon into a refined aesthetic language.
The vertical gradient, which intensifies towards the center, creates depth and movement, while the polished finish amplifies the visual effect, evoking the transparency and immensity of the sea. The result is a dynamic, technical, and at the same time poetic dial, capable of telling a story without words.
Completing the aesthetic is the blue ceramic bezel, scratch-resistant and perfectly consistent with the watch's chromatic theme.
Marinemaster: heritage and professional performance
This interpretation is part of the historic Marinemaster line, inspired by Seiko's professional divers from 1968. The case design reflects that tradition, maintaining a balance between technical robustness and contemporary refinement.
The water resistance up to 300 meters confirms the model's diving vocation, making it suitable not only for everyday use but also for more demanding conditions.
Caliber 8L45: high-end mechanical heart
Inside this creation, we find the automatic caliber 8L45, a movement developed to ensure high performance in a professional setting. With a power reserve of 72 hours, this caliber represents one of Seiko's most advanced solutions for diver's watches.
Reliability, precision, and robustness are the key elements of this movement, designed to accompany the user in extreme conditions without compromise.
Limited edition inspired by scientific research
Produced in only 1,000 units, this limited edition strengthens the bond between Seiko and the world of scientific exploration. It is not simply a dive watch, but a timepiece that tells the story of the relationship between man and the ocean, between technology and nature.
Availability is expected from July 2026, making it one of the most anticipated models in the Prospex line.
