The histories of Eberhard & Co. and Tazio Nuvolari have been intertwined for over thirty years, ever since 1992, when the Swiss brand decided to dedicate a watch collection to the legendary Mantuan driver, an absolute icon of motorsport. This year, on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the birth of the "Flying Mantuan" and the 90th anniversary of his extraordinary 1932 racing season with the Alfa Romeo 8-cylinder, the brand pays tribute with a new model that combines tradition and innovation.
The case, available for the first time in a 41 mm diameter, retains the DNA of the Nuvolari collection while introducing new details. The black dial, enhanced by a helical finish, highlights the large white Arabic numerals and the characteristic case with the champion's initials. The two chronograph counters at 12 and 6 o'clock remain in their original layout, now also available in a new and bold version with a white background.
On the flange, the tachometric scale features a touch of yellow, the color symbolic of the sweater Nuvolari wore during the race and the famous turtle-shaped brooch given to him by Gabriele D'Annunzio. The same color appears on the tip of the chronograph seconds hand, while the bezel and caseback retain the unmistakable "rosette" finish inspired by the world of motorsports.
The caseback, secured with eight screws, is available in both a closed version and with a sapphire crystal window, revealing the automatic movement decorated with a gold reproduction of the historic Alfa Romeo Tipo 12/C. A tribute that, more than just a watch, becomes a piece of history to wear on the wrist.
